@cobra The last Mac Mojave 10.14.6 version that will work on desktop without running thru’ browser tab is Manager IO Ver 21.1.6 which can be downloaded through Manager.io · GitHub.
Unfortunately this issue is NOT trivial. Some users (such as me) are staying with High Sierra since it is the last OS capable of running some important 32 bit legacy software - ie. Filemaker database, for mission critical usage. Upgrading the OS means rebuying the database package for more than USD1200.
In any case the issue that needs looking at is the problem of Manager refusing to open the file with an older version of the programme - if this could be solved, us recalcitrant Mac users could just stay with the prior older version of Manager & all would be fine. BTW the download page does say that system requirement for OSX is 10.13 so it should work on that platform…(which it does not). Also I note that the Manager file backup also does NOT work, as stated by other users here.
@Cattlefarmer how did you go when you tried this work around?
However eventually all new programs will become incompatible with old operating systems. So all new program fixes are only short term solutions.
My local car garage refuses to service my Model T Ford. Apparently spare parts are not available.
What on earth are Ford going to do about it?
Interesting! Printing works. The batch create invoices/journal entries does not. Could be an interface/browser issue then.
Model T Ford was probably the coolest car ever made by Ford.
I never said the issue was trivial. But @Patch is correct: eventually all software is left in the dust, and so is all computer hardware. But it would be unrealistic for me to expect to run Manager on my first Mac, with its 512K of RAM and a floppy drive. Or any of the other handful of Macs I’ve conducted business on since. I’ve had to upgrade not just software, but entire hardware systems to accommodate the march of so-called progress. Accounting systems based on discontinued programs have been abandoned. Machines have been replaced because tax software (with required annual updates) no longer supports older operating systems. Honestly, if you are still clinging to 32-bit software, you’ve received more than fair value from it.
The developer has expressed his desire to move minimum system requirements for Manager to macOS v10.14. I urged him not to for the time being, because problems reported in this thread are not universal. I’ve not been able to reproduce them in tests running v10.13 on an older Mac. And there is a promised fix to some third-party software included in the Mac bundle that is supposed to address these issues. But if it doesn’t, Manager will abandon support for v10.13 and you will have no choice about updating if you want to keep using Manager.
But you are lucky. Your hardware will support the update. At least you will not have to replace your computer, which would cost you more than replacing some 32-bit software.
Hi, i’ve not read this whole discussion but have the same problems on my iMac too.
Print does not work, is asking for a suitable program. PDF causes a crash from Manager.
I use the workaround: email the report to yourself. The attachment in the email is the requested report in PDF-format. You can print or save the it.

Have you tried the solutions discussed multiple times above
Option 1
- Open Manager desktop
- Open a Manager desktop link in your normal browser (which is the same as opening http://127.0.0.1:55667 )
- Minimise the initial Manager desktop window and do not use it until you want to quit Manager
Option 2
- Upgrade your Mac operating system.
Option 3
- Continue to use an old versions of your Mac operation system and an old version of Manager
Unfortunally I have an older iMac (2010). Upgrading MacOS is not possible anymore. But the machine still works fine for me! I do not want to downgrade Manager. So I will use the bypass: emailing the reports to myself.
Opening http://127.0.0.1:55667 is not working. localhost unknown

The host local is ManagerDesktop running on your computer. If it is not running when you try the link it can not respond.
As I said above. You are open a link from Manager desktop in your web browser. Exactly how to do this varies with operating system.
The workaround of opening the browser url works for me.
I’m on Mojave right now but plan to upgrade at some point to Catalina. However, can anyone who experienced this issue confirm that upgrading to Catalina actually fixed it?
I’m running Catalina. It does not happen. But I can’t say that “fixed it,” because it never happened back when I was running Mojave. But, if you can upgrade, you should. And if it still happens to you, for whatever reason, opening an instance of Manager in a browser will still fix the problem until the 3rd-part software is fixed.
The issue could be resolved in the latest version (21.5.8)
Thank you @lubos I can finally save backups and create PDF’s without using a browser I download version (21.5.10) and so far everything appears to be working correctly. Very grateful for your persistence to repair and I am now looking forward to being able to experience the changes that you have made over the last 5 months. A terrific software package and a credit to you and your team. Well done!
Has this been solved? Manger has been crashing for me for months when printing to pdf since Big Sur update. Now it is crashing after printing to a printer. Print is received fine and manager just has to be restarted, but it’s annoying. No other Mac or non-Mac software I have is affected.
Given that this topic spans multiple years and the last post was three months ago, it would be useful if you specified what version of Manager you are talking about
