User | Inactive

It was possible to inactive previously but unable to do so now. Can you please guide if some changes has been made or even relocated.

Presumably you are asking about the Cloud or Server edition?

You should always include the edition and version number when looking for help

Extremely Sorry,

Preciously, yes; Cloud Edition.

In addition, we create new user and after creating the same it appear as in-active user and we don’t know how to make it active, please assist!!

You should post some screen images here of what you are doing, as that will make it clearer to everyone

I can not recall being able to make users inactive. However, you can make customers, suppliers, employees inactive.

You will have to either:

  • Manually set each and every permission to no access,

Or:

  • Delete the user permission entry altogether or go to the Users tab and remove the business from underneath the user. Both methods have more or less the same effect.

Some screenshots would definitely help. But I can only guess you’re speaking of the “users” under Settings > User Permissions.

This could probably be due to the user permissions being set for a non-existent user for whatever reason.

Most probably, you have created permissions before creating the user.

You can only create users from the users tab and not from the Settings. See this guide.

Later on, you can set and change permissions from the Settings.

Which really begs the question: Do we really need the “New User Permissions” button in the Settings?

Thank you @Joe91 @eko @Ealfardan for your timely inputs.

@eko It was possible as inactive user still appears in Setting – User Permission List but option of re-activating is not available.

This way user still able to login but with no access.

We also opt for this for the time being as we do not see any other option to ensure security. But Delete User from system is not a good option, previous function was effective just to inactive user like others customer etc.

After reviewing your guidelines, we just registered that New User from User was not created once we created it synchronize both settings.

Now the concern only remains for Active and Inactive User feature.

Your answer is to delete the user permissions and NOT the user as I mentioned earlier:

If you go to Settings > User Permissions and delete an entry from there, the actual user will not be deleted. You can verify this by going to the Users tab.

In short:

  • Deleting User from Users tab deletes the user but keeps the entire history.

  • Deleting User Permissions from the Settings keeps the user account but revokes all permissions – effectively inactivating the user for that particular business.

  • To reactivate the user, go to users tabs and edit the user to add the business to them.
