Merge transaction saved in two separate manager software

Hi,

I ran my manager run frm jun’15 to mar 16 in one laptop but due to some techinical issue …i forced to download new manager software in another system from apr 16 to till date. Now, old data is available …pls advise how can i merge both transaction and merge and adjust the balances.

You can not merge two files. You have two choices:

  1. Use the old data file and re-enter the transactions dated after March 16, or
  2. Use the new file as if you were migrating your business to Manager from another accounting system. That is, enter the unpaid invoices from the old file, and enter opening balances for all balance sheet accounts.

Your example is a reminder to all users to always keep a recent back-up on a separate drive or a Cloud service.

You could ask the developer @lubos if he can import the old data into the database. It would take him less than 2 minutes to do. Make sure that you have a full backup of both files. Might be worth having the option to import old Manager databases incorporated into the program one day as I can see many uses for that.

Thamks for prompt response.
Just, as quick note, refer to pt 2:

  1. I have both data file of manager software only. With almost same chart of accounts. Still i can not merge both together and need to reenter all manually?
  2. Im using version 15.1.xx How can i update the file?

How to reach to lubos? Any email id

he will pick it up as I have linked his name in the post above.

Point 1. You can not merge both together.

Point 2. Before you do anything, make a backup (copy) of your old file. Then import the backup with the latest version of the Manager program. See the guide to learn how to restore a file: Backup, restore, import, and transfer businesses | Manager.

If any changes to the database structure are needed, Manager will do those changes when it opens the file.

The only way to “merge” your two files into one, would be to take the closing balances from your Mar file and enter them as opening balances in the Apr - this will combine the two values, but to see the Mar file individual transactions you will need to open the Mar file.

You could also read this topic on how you could also transfer the Mar file P&L figures into Apr file - this is balances not transactions
