Every time we need to send a quote to a client using for example outlook, and in order to follow up on an existing subject email, we need to save a quote or invoice into a folder so that we can attach the same to the email. The same happens for example when sending through WhatsApp (it happens more and more).
We like to rely on the Manager software to keep these stored rather than in folders and would welcome a way that we don’t need to create more files and store them before being able to send them out. WE use sometimes the email direct from Manager but this is not our preferable way for reasons like the ones mentioned above.
Would it be complicated to create a button that will place in the clipboard a pdf of the document being it a quote, invoice or even a report that we could past it direct to another software.
No clue if this will be simple to develop but I see a lot of value on this functionality, don’t you?
You don’t need to store transactions elsewhere. You can return to the transaction in Manager and email it again.
Further, you did not provide any reasons for your desire to do so except that you prefer not to use the program. I do not believe you should expect a feature to be added because you prefer not to use the one the already there.
Thanks for the quick reply. Will try to make it more clear.
Emailing feature is not solving the problem of having to save the invoice or quote into a pdf file in order to email it on outlook application in an existing email thread. Manager currently only sends new emails.
Idea is to save us the need of generating a pdf, saved it in a windows folder or Mac, add it as an attachment afterwards; 3 steps process that leaves a file stored in your computer otherwise 4 steps to delete it too.
Idea is with one click to have this same document in the clipboard so that you can drop it (past or Ctrl + V) in an email tread reply, WhatsApp chat or any other application. Simpler process and reduced time wasted.
On the move and while using an android device this is already simpler (stores the file automatically) when you request to generate the pdf. It immediately ask you where you want to send or store it. You can WhatsApp or share it using other installed apps. However in this scenario it is not that easy to add to an email tread in order to reply with a quote and also the file is saved on your phone.
It might even not be possible but I see on our daily activity that will save us a lot of time on the process of sending out quotes and other documents from manager.
You need to provide a very specific, step by step example of what you are suggesting. In my experience, Manager already provides the same features as some other common programs. For example, if I am viewing a Microsoft Word document, I have the option to Share > Send Document. That opens an email in my default email program with the file pre-attached. I can then send it to anyone I want. That is basically what emailing a transaction from Manager does: opens an email template that you can edit to send to anyone and to which a PDF of the transaction will be attached. (There would be no point in send the Manager transaction form itself, because your recipient would need to have Manager installed to view it and would have to somehow import the transaction into a business defined in Manager.)
I can also (in Word) choose Share > Send PDF. Then, regardless of the file type, I get an email form with a PDF pre-attached, exactly what Manager does. Microsoft Excel provides exactly the same options.
As for copying an entire file to the clipboard, you can do that with some operating systems. So I can copy a spreadsheet file from a directory and paste it into an email. But you are then using a feature of the operating system, not an application. And Manager is not an operating system.
The most simpler example I can remember its the Snipping tool or windows logo key + Shift + S. It allows you to capture a part of your screen and when you select that part it doesn’t have to be save before you can use it. It will be immediately be available (in the clipboard) to past into an email, WhatsApp or any other application. It also offers the option to save it as a file but doesn’t make it mandatory in order to use the content that you want to use.
I understand that might not be an easy feature or might not even exist as a plug in module that could be added to manager similar to the PDF button.
