Desktop Edition Crashes on Launch

My data is in the wrong folder or I’m searching in the wrong folder?
I see your breadcrumbs has Roaming

Thanks, found it.

To use the server version should you double click it and should it work the same as desktop version?

I have double clicked on it and it’s giving an information box with:

“The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you’re running. Check your computer system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.”

I’m not having much luck am I.

Continuing the discussion from Desktop Edition Crashes on Launch:

I have been following this thread. We’ve had Manager on Windows 7 for over 1 year. Been trying to launch as Mark said via ManagerServer.exe but that will not open either.

We went back and restored our computer 1 day and now it is working. Try that to see if it helps

I found a workaround for us. We’re running Manager on Windows 7 64 bit.

  1. Go into the windows control panel, and open the program manager.
  2. Remove the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (probably version 108.X.X.X)
  3. Download the standalone installer for version 107 from this link, and install: Silent Installation of Update for Microsoft WebView2 Runtime (x64) (107.0.1418.62) : ManageEngine Endpoint Central

I saved the installer file on my desktop so if my PC decides to upgrade to 108 again automatically, I can do the process again and again to limp by until there’s an official workaround.

Windows 7 support ended in 2020 unless you purchased Extended Support from Microsoft

You seem to have a pretty powerful PC (Intel i7 processor, 16Gb RAM)

A much more sensible approach would be to update to Windows 10 or even 11, if possible

Continuing to use an O/S that is over 10 years old is quite a risky option

@Joe91
I am aware of the downsides to still using Win 7. I only use the comp for accounting and connecting to the web for Manager updates.
If you had looked closer, you would notice that it is an i7-3820 which is not supported by Windows 10.
Thank you for contributing nothing to the solution to this thread.

Sorry, I was only trying to point out that relying on old technology is not always the wisest solution

A more up to date PC to run Managet is not all that expensive as it does not need to be that powerful in order to run Manager

Your solution is fine and of course you can continue as you are.

My points are made so that other users reading this topic are made aware of the limitations of extending the life of PC

I am not sure about the impossibility of installing Wibdows 10 - I have installed Windows 10 on a 20 year old laptop that originally operated with Windows Vista

Scroll down to [Core i7 2nd Gen]. This tells another story. Your i7-3820 is supported by Windows10.

Why you say this is a mystery to me, @Joe91 did give you valuable advice.

The Windows 10 upgrade compatibility check program was notorious for misdiagnosing whether a PC was upgradeable or not

hello,

did you find a solution. i am panicking as I did what they say in this thread and nothing worked.
thanks

If you’re still running Windows 7 and unable to load the software, try what I suggested a few posts up. It worked for us, and will likely work for you as well.

Everyone else who’s sitting here arguing over whether windows 7 should still be used and so on are contributing nothing to the topic at hand.

@deeplist Thanks a ton for the link to the older installer of Webview2 Runtime.
Worked perfect if anyone else needs to rollback.
I searched for an hour and couldn’t find a link to a stand alone, so many thanks!

Edit:
This will be of interest to all on this thread:

Next week, version 109… of Webview will be out and it will be the last version supporting Windows 7.
Let us all hope it fixes the problem we are having.

Edit 2:
It appears the new version of Webview2 Runtime (109) will not be out until January 12th, 2023. Either the post has been edited or I misread it to begin with. My apologies if it was the latter. We have a bit of a wait yet…

DeepList thanks a lot for your help i tried it and the manger is working normally now

Great Help …

Love You Deeplist…Its Working

Thanks @deeplist rolled back to Ver. 107.*. and working again.

For those with 32 bit systems you will need the x86 version here:

Hello, I have windows 8. thank you for your message. I will try it now.

DeepList Big thank you !! It works

Worked for us as well. Crossing our fingers for bug fixes on 109
