Manager will not launch after installing v21.2.30

Manager will not launch after installing v21.2.30. Clicking the desktop does nothing. Please advise. Thank you.

What operating system? Are there any error messages? No one can help without information.

I have the same issue, double click the icon and nothing happens, There is no error no nothing just will not open when you try to launch it. Running on Windows 10 desktop

ok it works now, What I did was reopen the installation and use repair, after that it worked fine and opened up.

I was able to fix the issue by doing the repair option when I re-installed over 21.3.30.

I had the same issue and it also worked after running the installer again and repairing the installation (21.2.30 desktop edition on Windows 10).

Further to

  • Same behaviour with Manager x64 v21.2.35
  • Running Manager installer a second time and choosing “Repair” fixes the issue

Manager v21.2.41 installed without issue for me (second install with “Repair” not required)

  • Update from v21.2.35
  • Manager desktop x64
  • Windows 7 professional x64
  • Installation in C:\Program Files (x86)\Manager

So installation bug appears fixed for me

Updating from 21.2.30 to 21.2.45 worked fine for me on one computer, and no repair was necessary. However, after updating from 21.2.25 to 21.2.45 on another computer Manager wouldn’t open until I ran the installation file again and repaired the installation.

(Manager desktop edition on Windows 10 Home 20H2 on both machines.)

A few days ago, Manager.io suddenly stopped launching on Windows 7. I was running 22.09.01.350 so I upgraded to 22.12.01.530 which still did not work, then to 23.04.20.795, & today to 23.04.22.800 - no joy! I have tried all the workarounds I have read, but still no joy! I do not want to use a system restore as I have recently reinstalled Win7 & it could cause too many other issues. This problem has happened to me in the past, quite some time ago, & I cannot remember what resolved it. I am aware that some other programs have stopped working in Windows 7 (e.g. paint.net, Vivaldi Browser & Bootstrap Studio due to a chromium update, but they all have a last version working in Win7. However, your website states that your latest version is for Win7 upwards. I am desperate as I have several charity accounts setup in Manager.io, so PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS LOVELY PACKAGE WORKING AGAIN!
Forgot to mention I am using Desktop versions (currently x64, but have previously also used x86, although I have uninstalled x86 now - but neither are working currently.)
UPDATE: Version 16.01.02x86 installs, but of course the data is not backwards compatible. I have tried updating to later versions, & it stops working again. I am stumped & I have an AGM coming up this week for which I have to create reports. PLEASE HELP ASAP & let me know what is causing this (I am very computer literate, so if there’s a Registry hack, for example, please let me know…).

The instructions for Windows at Download | Manager are simple. As we do not know if your system is 64-bit (does not seem to work) or 32-bit (worked for you in the past).

First of all make sure you have at least Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit) otherwise download

Thank you, I know how to download & install - I’ve been in IT since 1979. I have a 64 bit Win7 SP1 system, but I am currently getting x86 version 20.02.01 working (but not x86 v.21+ or x64 at the moment), but the data is not backwards compatible - if there’s a way to make data backwards compatible, please let me know & I’ll stick with an older version.

Other than reverting to a backup, no

Oh, dear, that’s what I feared, I backup every time I use the program, but I cannot revert as far back as version 20, so I have to find a way to make the last or the lastest versions work. BTW, I don’t care if I use x86 or x64 versions, just as long as they work!

I’m wondering, I think the program is dependent upon a web component (e.g. Internet Explorer/Edge or similar?), & if I knew what it was referencing I might be able to update it if it’s out of date, if, indeed, that is the problem. I am aware that this issue is not a new one - there are several instances of this in the forum, going back in time, but none of the workarounds have worked for me - & trust me, I have tried all sorts!

Forget about the data for a moment. Try to install the latest version on your system and see if it works. Do not import anything yet. You first need to be sure that you have a working version. Indeed it can be very stressful if all of a sudden you need to produce reports on ancient charities but as long as you have backups of these (copy plenty of them in various locations) there may be a way forward.

Trust me, I have backups of backups, so I am not worried about my data, & I started by updating with the latest version when it first failed to open, but it refuses to co-operate! Perhaps I wlll try to move the data folder & install without data at all & see if that works. Thanks for the idea… I will let you know if that works.

No, it’s not playing ball - program refuses to open even without a link to the data. SMH!

I suspect this is something to do with WebView2 - anyone any ideas in that regard? Is the developer on this forum? Perhaps he/she should look into this?

The last version currently working for me is 20.08.57, which, of course, is no good for my data. I am now very frustrated & running out of ideas to try - SO PLEASE HELP, Mr. Developer… I love this program, but need it working well always, please, because I use it almost every day for several charities.

load the server version and run it as a local host. Any web browser can then be used and it does not use WebView2.
