Manager won't start on windows 10 after install

I installed Manager on an older windows 10 machine and it won’t start. Double clicking on the icon or directly on the ManagerDeskop.exe has no result. Nothing appears to start in the task manager. I’ve also tried to run managerserver.exe. A window flashes up for second, too quickly to see anything in it, then disappears. I’ve tried running both as administrator. Uninstalled the program and reinstalled to a different folder. I tried booting into safe mode and got the error Exception processing message 0xc0000005 unexpected parameters when I tried to run managerdesktop.exe. Ideas anyone?

What version of Windows 10 are you using specifically? Should be version 1607 or higher.

What version of Windows are you using?

32 or 64 bit?

It’s windows 10 home 64 bit 22H2 OS build 19045.4239

From where and what installer did you download / are trying to use
You should download from here https://www.manager.io/download
And you need to be running a 64bit version of Windows

Yes that is where I downloaded from

I use Windows 10. It is awhile since I tried the desktop version as I dislike the data mining done by Windows edge / Webview2.
What anti virus software do you uses, as that sometimes causes problems.

Options

  • uninstall Webview2 & Manger Desktop, restart your computer then reinstall Manger (& Webview2)

  • Try the server version (extract the zip file, run the server exe, open http://localhost:8080/ )

@esbyrt
If this is a webview problem, make sure you update your OS, or try changing the default browser to another browser other than Microsoft Edge.

I am unable to uninstall webview, every tip I’ve found online didn’t work. In control panel I can modify or repair but not uninstall. I’ve done all updates for windows 10 that are available. I have chrome as the default web browser. I will try the tip from patch about installing the server version.

I can’t uninstall webview. I downloaded the server edition but when I click on managerserver.exe I get a black window saying Fatal error Internal CLR error 0x80131506 which closes right away.

As I said, I run the server (have a licence but 99% of the time use it single user).

To address you could download a fresh copy of Webview2 & install that. https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/?form=MA13LH#download
Annoying Microsoft block a clean install

@Lubos did you change the .NET framework?

Just tested on fresh install win 10 22H2 x64 Home
Run Manger Desktop, will show

The reinstall of webview2 failed saying it’s already installed.

Lubos I did not change the NET framework. Should I? I did check it once and the system says I have the latest version

The latest version is .NET 8

You don’t have to install .NET. Manager is self-contained so it doesn’t require .NET dependency.

[Mabaega] sent me instructions that worked to reinstall webview2 but Manager still won’t open. If we’re out of ideas I’ll try a fresh install of windows.

Update: did a reset of windows that deleted all programs but not the data. Manager still won’t open. Is there an older version I can try on here?

I flagged both your posts because they were cross-posts which is against the forum rules. Indeed this is also a cross-post.

I also think that it is inappropriate to use any other links to download Manager on this forum than the “official” ones at either:

  1. https://www.manager.io/download

or

  1. https://github.com/Manager-io/Manager

There is a significant risk that someone may have injected malicious code and I advise @Lubos or moderator or yourself to take action and remove your post.
