Changing a date for an entry

I have entered an incorrect date on an receivable entry. I didn’t realise and proceeded with a reconciliation. Now it seems I cant modify the entry date, nor even delete the entry and of course I can’t get the reconciliation to work. Any thoughts?

i do not think i completely understood what you described but i can edit a transaction even after i have performed a reconciliation of the bank account.

have you set a lock date for you business under Settings? if so, i think you will not be able to edit any transaction prior to the lock date set.

No I have not set a lock date, that date tab is blank.
If I go to my transactions and use the edit function I can change the date and then press the update button. But when I look again at the transactions the date hasn’t changed. If I simply try to delete the entry, again it seems to allow me to delete but when I again go to the transactions, the entry is still there.

i am unable to replicate your issue.
what edition are you using? what version? what OS platform?
can you post screenshots of the transaction you are having the issue with?

I am using Manager 15.7.39 on a MacBook Pro running Mac Sierra 10.12.6. I have attached a screen shot as follows:

my first suggestion for you will be to update Manager and check if the problem persists.
you are using a version more than 2 years old. the latest version is 17.10.52

Thanks I will try that. I thought I had just updated recently are there different versions for PC & Mac; anyway I shall give that a try.

you can visit this link and download for your OS platform.
https://www.manager.io/desktop/download/

always download from the official website. also make a backup of your business file before updating. and make sure you update Manager by overwriting and not uninstall and reinstall.

Versions for all operating systems always match. You are literally more than 1,000 versions behind. Be prepared for major additions. Be sure to follow the procedures in this Guide exactly: Install or update desktop edition on macOS | Manager.

Thanks but it just doesn’t seem to be my day. I see that I had downloaded a newer version a month ago but it seems not to have taken. I have just downloaded the new version from the website but I cant get it to open, let alone install. I will do a complete reboot and see if I get any joy.

Thanks so much for your assistance. Last month I thought I had updated to the latest version but obviously that was not the case. I have been successful with the new installation of the latest version and will keep an eye out for upgrades. I have been able to restore from a backup albeit a month ago but I really don’t have a great deal of activity as this is really personal use. I guess I will just re-enter my transactions and come up to date. Thanks again.

You might want to sign up for the new newsletter, too, which will alert you to major changes. Signup is available on the home page, download page, etc.
