I am using Manager desktop version 21.11.87. Windows 10. I have multiple businesses added. After I click on a particular business name, it results in a blank page (see screenshot).
Other businesses load normally.
I am using Manager desktop version 21.11.87. Windows 10. I have multiple businesses added. After I click on a particular business name, it results in a blank page (see screenshot).
have you tried importing a backup of the business file?
Yes, I did. Business opens the first time after I import a backup. When I restart Manager, it results in the same issue.
do you have any other backups for the same business?
since you are experiencing issue with only one of the business files, there is a chance that the file is corrupted.
@AA2 how big is your database? Could you let it run for at least a minute or so? Usually the upgrade script is very quick but if you are opening older business that is quite large, it can take a bit.
@sharpdrivetek I have tried using previous backups as well but issue persists.
@lubos The database is 37.1 MB. The other business is 45.1 MB but that opens without any issue.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Manager to the latest version 21.11.88 but the issue persists.
Any guidance on how this issue can be resolved?
Can you navigate to your application data folder and open the file for the troublesome business directly?
@Tut I tried now but it still opens a blank page.
@AA2 can you check the file properties for your business file in your application data folder.
make sure it is not set to Read-only. also, check the Advanced options and ensure encryption of file is disabled. then check if you have set all the necessary permissions for your username under the Security tab.
@sharpdrivetek It was set to Read-only. I have disabled now. However, the problem persists.
Security level is same for other businesses as well.
I am not sure why but there seems to be an issue with your filename.
the window header shows Cafe 4 whereas it is displayed as just Cafe followed by whitespaces I think. can you try renaming the file manually and check again?
@sharpdrivetek I masked the name and did not do a good job of it File name is fine.
I would agree
anyways I am out of ideas as to why just the particular business file alone has issues. and the file size does not seem to be an issue here. i guess @lubos can have a look at the file and help you with the issue.
@sharpdrivetek Thank you for your prompt attention and help. I appreciate it.
@lubos I am in your hands now!
in the meantime, you could try running the ManagerServer.exe file in your Manager installation folder and check if it gives you any error message for the business file.
run the file, open your web-browser and navigate to http://127.0.0.1:8080
check the Launching Manager Server section in the guide Windows | Manager
Although you have several businesses it is not clear if for example the “Cafe 4” one was not imported from an old back-up while the others may have been from more recent versions. It would be helpful to know when the different businesses were created and with which versions of Manager.
@eko I do a backup each time I update a business. Strange thing though is that when I first import the business, it works fine. I then close the Manager without any updates to Cafe 4 or other businesses. Next time I start Manager, clicking on Cafe 4 results in a blank page. This issue occurs with older backups of Cafe 4 as well. Till 2 days back, Cafe 4 was opening without any issues.
one last thing to try.
in your application data folder, delete the particular business file for Cafe 4 and the file with filename 0000000.
Open Manager, import the backup and try creating a new backup for the business from the current version of Manager.
then try to import and use the new backup.
