I thought it is easy to get the Vat calculation on the invoice. I made several Vat entries on the settings , and if I open a new invoice, I could choose one ot the vat codes. But it doesn;t work allright with me, nor in the stand alone Manager package, neither in the cloud version. I think I have missed some pointer to set anywhere. Am I right?
I can’t choose any tax code while preparing the record on the invoice. This Vat code box is empty, when I want to choose one of the entered vat codes , done on the settings tab
I entered multiple Vat codes and linked these to the right balance account. Bur nevertheless none of the vat codes appears in de box when entering the invoice records. It keeps empty and give a message that none of the codes can be found
The only workaround I can imagine is to calculate the vat manually and enter a second record in the invoice with as quanty the Vat %. It seems that the automatic Vat calculation doesn’t work here in suriname, altough I told Manager to calculate it in the Dutch way, what is exactly similar
You may think so. But localized tax schemes are very likely to evolve to remain in compliance with their designated jurisdictions in the future. You should not do this. Create custom tax codes.
That means you did not create them properly.
Do not! You will likely create multiple disasters and will sacrifice all the built-in tax features of the program.
Please post screen shots of a tax code, as @ries requested. Also post a screen shot of the Tax Codes page under Settings.
I see some remarkable things. So my suggestion that the Dutch Vat system is compatible with the Surinamese system is a misunderstanding. Now I see there is a fixed table of Vat categories, we don;t have in Suriname. And also the percentages differ fromt those of the Netherland. We have hier 0%, 5%, 10% and 25% and free of Vat. And I see that you use the single tariff, not the multiple tariff. Is it possible to create a specific list of Vat categories as mentioned for Suriname? But I don’t see Suriname in the country drop box. What is the procedure to work with Vat in countries, not mentioned in this box?
As I said, and as explained in the Guide, create custom tax codes. Of nearly 200 sovereign nations in the world, there are only a few for which Manager has localizations. These are created by local volunteer experts.
Don’t feel left out. The vast majority of Manager users around the world operate without localizations. For one thing, they require that the entire country operate under exactly the same tax regimen.
Thank you Tut, this advice helped me a lot to understand the algorithm used in Manager. Now it works in a proper way. Thank you Ries and Tut for helping me through this new item for us here in Suriname. Hopely our country will be localized in the coming updates. If so let me know. Is someone involved with the Surinamese tax regimen, as far as you know?
There is no process for tracking and following up on such requests. You will have to monitor updates yourself. I have no knowledge of any localization development underway for Suriname. But I am not involved with localizations, so I would have no reason to know.
