Setting Up SMTP for E-Mail

Hi,

I am trying to setup the SMTP to send e-mails from my own domain. I have tried several times with various settings and all attempts end with a time out.

I have checked the settings with my provider and they informed me that everything looks correct but that port 587 is reserved - Unfortunately we cannot offer you port 485. According to IANA it is reserved for Powerburst protocol, please see:
https://www.iana.org/assignments/service-names-port-numbers/service-names-port-numbers.xml

Are there any suggestions to help me to get the e-mail working please?

Regards
Pat

if you have enabled two-step verification or to prevent login from unknown devices at your mail service provider end, you should follow their necessary procedure to allow Manager access.

Unfortunately it is not that easy. Two step verification is not used. The server requires only the usename and password. I believe that it is bceause port 485 is not supported by my provider. Is there another port besides 485 that is supported by manager?

Manager supports only port 587. Please read the guide to setup you email account properly https://www.manager.io/guides/10643

who is your email service provider? check their guides on how to allow non recognized devices and programs to access your account.

Hi,

It still times out with port 587. Exactly the same. The e-mail service is supplied as part of my domain by a company called XetNet.

They have informed me that they do not have any filtering or blocking active on the server that would prevent Manager from sending mail from the account.

Why is the port that is supported restricted? I too need to use a different port. This appears to be a common request.
Would love to see the drop-down override-able with a text box for the port number; most e-mail clients allow this.
