I am an old Quickbooks user now starting with Manager. I spent about 10 hours on Manager and I find your platform easy to work with and intuitive. I am a Mac user and maybe that is part of the problem.
My bank rules are not working. I have honestly tried everything. I am downloading from my bank account as a csv file but when I open it, to clean it up, it converts to numbers, so then I am exporting as a csv file then importing into Manager. When cleaning the file up, I delete everything in the description file except one key word. That is the word I am using in my rule. But it doesn’t pick it up.
Here is the rule and here is my csv file: I must be really dumb. How do I upload the files?
WOW, thanks for your quick reply. Aren’t the rules intended to replace the “suspense” with the correct account (category), which I have specified in the rule?
I am in France so I keep forgetting if I need to change the comma to a decimal point. Because when I change all the commas to periods and I import them, it converts them back to commas. Its confusing… but in any case, this has nothing to do with the rules. Is anything case sensitive in the bank rule screen? Can I add a title for supplier? I have been told I can’t because of the Supplier/Client/Other issue.
Editing an old post is occasionally useful to enable new readers to not have to interpret your typing / grammatical errors. For existing readers it wastes time as most readers do not reread posts they have already ready read and changing content removes the chronological flow of the content.
Getting back on topic. The old guides were designed to be human readable so I find them much more useful. I recommend you read “5.1.4 Importing bank statements” in https://www2.manager.io/manager.pdf In particular about uncategorised transactions
Hello and thanks for your efforts to help. I have read 5.1.4 and I learned nothing that makes me change what I have done. I send the 3 screen shots of the rule, the csv file and the result. The rule is still not working.
The screens that are in the manual ( i have attached one here “in the manual”) , refers to green letters) and the one that I see on my version (see attached “my screen”,) does not have green letters nor a NEW RECEIPT RULE button. Is there something wrong with my rule?? Or is my version (the free one) or my mac or the csv file??
I have 8 months of statements to upload so its really important that the rules work so I don’t have to go in and edit 300 transactions. I used to use Quickbooks and it took me a while to find Manager..
Although I hardly comment anymore this one is obvious from yuor screenshot. You assign to Account Groceries but do not have an item selected! Just check the edit screen in that screenshot where description is “flo” and compafe to the edit screens of the “Umodis” ones.
