Having Recurring Sales /Purchase invoices and payslip is great feature, still when mention recurring means its for service, subscription, either done one time per recurrence or within duration.
in current recurring it doesn’t have input for such thing, like selecting next invoice when to be created, it shall have section of period to cover
other thing in terms of recurring and other invoices, reporting is based on invoice date, regardless on service performance. i.e. if invoiced today 21 JAN 18 for service done back in Dec 2017, the revenue/cost will be shown as JAN 18 not DEC 17 in P&L, Cash reports , etc
any suggestion of work around solution, or is it on plan to have more features on recurring
yes this is what am implying, like when select generate every ( ) month
to have interval From to
setting it to be 31st, doesnt work, for example our term an condition we shall raise the invoice by 20th dec, and due date is 1st Jan.
so Jan invoice will be created Dec
This is only partially true. For example, if you use the Billable Time module, income will be reported as Billable time - movement, even before it has been invoiced. Otherwise, income is recorded as of the invoice date. How else would Manager know any date associated? If you require reporting of work in progress prior to invoicing, any accounting system will need a chart of accounts designed to accommodate that, with appropriate entries.
yes it remains in effect,
my point it is not updating billing month.week, quarter in next generated invoice
there is no field to highlight this service for which period, hence you need to edit every invoice manually once generated, and the revenue will be booked according to invoice date, not service period.
for Billable time, this will not help since it is count hours, while months are 30/31/ 28/29 this will result in not accurate monthly rates
I thought you meant the period over which the recurring invoice would be in effect, not the period of service covered by the invoice. Recurring invoices are good for something like monthly subscriptions, not periodic billing of charges that change. They cannot be used for invoicing billable time.
Well, you specifically mentioned billable time. Basically, recurring invoice will be identical every time you issue it, except for issue date. If you don’t intend them to be identical, there may not be any point in using them.
These were your words, not mine. You were the one who first raised billable time, not me. I only responded to you.
As you continue to express dissatisfaction with Manager’s recurring sales invoice feature, I am starting to wonder whether you might misunderstand its purpose. Recurring invoices are not for billing services or goods delivered several times during a period of time. They are for identical invoices that are issued again and again at fixed intervals.
and who is issuing similar invoices again and again if it is not for subscriptions !
recurring doesn’t mean 100% replica, there should be variable
and as you have variable change in the recurring, then this variable has to be addressed in automation
thanks @Brucanna for highlighting who first mention billable time !
