One entry was made as receipt into a bank account but we ended up seeing three entries. The net effect is still the same as some were posted as negative receipt.
This type of thing has happened before but I insisted the staff posted them, that the posts can not repeat itself.
Attached is the screen shot of the transaction list.
You should post the relevant transactions from the file downloaded from the bank - it is possible that there are three transactions
If this was systemic or an error with Manager then the forum would have been inundated. This problem is specific to you and therefore you first need to check the data file you tried to import. Also if you already did manual transactions in manager and then import bank statements on the same you must check.
Looking again at your screenshot:
- You state that you made Payments but this is a list of Receipts
- The entry in red is a reversal of the entry below it. Both are without a bank account and I wonder if these therefore also are in the Suspense Account as not assigning a bank account to a receipt or payment is an error.
- The 3rd one has a bank account assigned to it (as it should) and probably shows correctly the only total if Naira 369,740.00.
As per my earlier message I suspect that the entries without assigning a bank account were made manually and the 3rd one may have come from a bank statement.
If you look in the History, you’ll probably see what exactly happened.
Thank you all for your comments and contributions. And sorry for responding late.
I had to check again.
First it was a receipt though described as payment the customer.
Now it was noticed when I drilled down from the cash flow report.
But when you check the bank account itself, it is displaying correctly with a single entry.
This is the original entry which was a single transaction:
So the double entry is only noticed when you drill down from the cashflow. The entry in the bank account is single and correct and the original entry was a single transaction. There is actually no effect as the position remains correct. But why will it appear twice with one reversed when I drill down from the cash flow?
This is then an automatic cash flow adjustment.
More importantly, it’s not a duplicate, it’s a triplicate. So even then, the net effect is nothing (i.e. 1 + 1 -1 still equals 1)
I don’t know what the exact mechanism for generating the cash flow figures but it seems that it relies adjustments by duplicating entries.
You can test your cash flow figures, if they check out, then there shouldn’t be anything to worry about
