Payslip Payment

I know there’s other posts discussing pairing of payments to payslips – and while that would be nice but this isn’t about that.

Even if payments aren’t linked to payslips right now, could we have a New Payment button on the Payslip view screen and the Employee > Amount to Pay screen as well.

These would make paying employees a lot easier especially if it also copies the Net Pay from Payslips and/or Amount to Pay from Employee.

It’s already there, and it copies net pay:

The screen provides access to each transaction you might want to pay. I’m not sure automatically paying the full amount currently due would necessarily be a good idea, because what you are really looking at is the Employee clearing account transaction list. Depending on how you’ve used that, there could very well be transactions you do not want to pay at a given moment.

Thanks mate, Idk how I missed it. I was working on some payslips right there and then. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

In that the user can view a single transaction and pay, otherwise you can go ahead and pay the whole balance.

On the last issue, it seems relatively easy to pay the whole amount, assuming you want to:

  1. Drill down on the amount to pay figure.
  2. Copy the total.
  3. View a payslip and select New Payment.
  4. Edit the amount by pasting in the total.
  5. Click Create.

No transcribing, no possibility of error. By comparison, your approach is only marginally simpler:

  1. Drill down on the amount to pay. (You still have to do this in order to select the employee being paid.)
  2. Select New Payment of Entire Balance (this would be a new button).
  3. Click Create.

Granted, there are a couple less steps with your approach. But you now need to educate users on two different approaches—one from the View screen of a payslip and the other from the drill-down listing—with two different buttons doing different things. Think of all the people who are fond of employee advances or have expense claims mixed in with the total. How many of them will choose the wrong button and approach and end up paying more than they expect? Now you have a payment to undo or edit, assuming you catch the error. The savings of a couple clicks do not seem worth it to me.

I was happy to learn that creating a payment from a payslip is possible. Now creating a payment for the total balance is really nice but it isn’t absolutely necessary. It’s just like the cherry on top of it all.

So I can live without it.
