Is there a way to print the page number somewhere in the custom theme? Apparently, page numbers are not there in the PDF version.
No. Pagination of PDFs is not performed by Manager.

I tried to do a bunch of HTML/CSS tricks to do the job, however, it seems it’s not doable. Does anybody manage to do it in a particular way? Is there any plan to include it in the new releases?
PDF operations are no longer actively supported. So, no, there are no plans.
They are if you use the Internal PDF generator under Obsolete Features.

You are probably using a pretty old version of Manager as not only the PDF generator but also Themes have been put under “Obsolete Features” under Settings (see screenshots). This pathway of PDF and Custom themes is thus a dead end.
