New extension - Replicator

The latest version (26.4.22.3434) contains new extension called Replicator

This allows to copy data from one business to another. Right now I’ve only added support for customers, suppliers, employees, inventory items and non-inventory items but I’ll add support for chart of accounts, tax codes etc.

To access the feature, simply go to Extensions

then click Replicator

Which will reveal the extension:

If you made a mistake and replicated data into incorrect business, use History within incorrect business to undo the mistake.

this is good, maybe someday we can also copy transactions along with the attachments

The latest version (26.4.22.3434) introduces a new extension called Replicator, which makes it much easier to copy data between different businesses; currently, it supports transferring customers, suppliers, employees, inventory items, and non-inventory items, and there are plans to expand its functionality further by adding features like chart of accounts and tax codes, making it an increasingly powerful tool for streamlining data management and setup across multiple businesses.

The ‘Extensions’ button is on the Desktop and Server editions - it is between the ‘User’ and ‘Support’ buttons at the top of all the pages in the same line as the ‘Businesses’ button also. Inside this ‘Extensions’ button can be found Replicator and other extension including the new Themes options

The icon is different to the ‘Extensions’ listed in settings which is not where 'Replicator is and this does create some confusion

Replicator needs to be able to create a new company with everything including form defaults, email settings, bank rules, custom fields and how they are used. Basically everything as if it was a new business without any history.

We were able to achieve this in the past with being able to back up without history, emails, attachments and then just delete the entries.

Many people have mentioned they wish new employees could not look back at the history of a business, even just invoices and therefore businesses may wish to continue with a ‘clean sheet’ every year (or whatever period). Obviously you are not deleting any accounts for the historical sets of accounts are still kept and can be made available to whoever requires them

There is some tweaking such as opening balances perhaps but a new clean perfectly set up can be achieved in minutes as I have done so in the past

I personally believe this is an essential feature that in the past could easily be achieve with the program working as before perfectly without any change just no history at all just a clean slate and you would not even notice
