Suggestion: Export/Import for Custom Reports and Chart of Accounts

Hello,

I recently created a custom report that replicates the format of the General Ledger Transactions report, using some filters on journal entries and dates.
After doing that, I wanted to share the report with others, but I couldn’t find a way to do so.

So, I’d like to suggest adding a feature to export and import custom reports, allowing users to share report templates across businesses or with the Manager community. This would save a lot of time and help maintain consistency across implementations.

Additionally, the Chart of Accounts currently cannot be exported or imported, which makes it difficult to replicate financial structures between businesses or standardize accounting templates.

I believe both of these features would be valuable additions to Manager — especially for accountants in jurisdictions with strict reporting requirements.

The work around I use is

  • Create a business with the desired COA and other desired base features.
  • Back it up
  • Import the backup, then rename the imported Manager business eg Template - Basic Business
  • Batch delete all non general data
  • Delete the history
  • Backup / save the cleaned Template Manager business
  • Import this business as a starting point for any new Manager businesses

We already have the Replicator Extension, and it’s likely that more data types will be supported in the future.
