Need to open an old backup!

Made a few mistakes when doing some book keeping today!
So I need to revert back to my last backup from July.
Manager 17.1.33
I’m using Mac, so I go and right click on file, open with / manager but I get…

The document “XXXXXXXXXX (2017-07-15).manager” could not be opened. Manager cannot open files of this type.

Don’t get it!

you are nine months behind Manager updates. the latest version is 17.10.65

you need to import the backup file into Manager.
read this guide https://www.manager.io/guides/8890

recent updates have allowed Manager to open business files directly without the need to importing them. but there is a catch. read about the same in the following release note.

Can’t find what “the catch” is!

So if I upgrade to the latest version I will be able to open the backup file that I want?

Cheers

well you would have found the below post when reading the topic i attached earlier.

yes. you could always open the backup file. it has just improved that is all.

Thanks, will play around with it later.

Be careful, @dogart! Once you open a file with a newer version, you cannot open it with an older version. And any file opened directly will not be the same file showing on your Businesses page. The safest thing to do is update your software first, then import the July backup. It should come in with the date appended to the company name.

Once you have entered the missing transactions, Remove the old company named file on the Businesses page. Then rename the import by deleting the date.
