Keyboard Shortcuts

I see several threads from nearly 10 years ago regarding keyboard shortcuts, but I don’t see any resolution. Is there a guide for keyboard shortcuts for the desktop version?

I’d also like to suggest a few small quality of life improvements as well:

  • When creating a new entry, pressing the tab key highlights the date instead of starting at the language selection and then iterating through the entire tab list before the date.
  • When alt+tabbing back into the Manager, automatically tab target the field I was just editing so I don’t need to re-select it.
  • Ctrl+tab cycles between the most recently used tabs instead of going from left to right.
  • Click and drag tabs to reorder them.
  • Support for multiple Manager windows open at the same time and/or split screen view with different tabs on each window/split.
  • Click and drag tabs out of the current window to create a new window with that tab.

All of these would help with keyboard flow when entering a lot of data and be consistent with functionality of similar programs.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for keyboard shortcuts.

I say this because this have been requested many times, and not once has it made it to ideas, just take a look on this quick forum search.

If you read long enough, you will find me rooting for this exact idea to be implemented some 7 years ago :smiley:.

The good news is though I still like to have shortcuts once in a blue moon, but I learned how to make full use of other Manager time saving features and browser shortcut and I’m making do without shortcuts just fine. At least that’s my personal experience, if it’s of any help.

Is there a guide to these time saving features and browser shortcuts? Or are you referring to the cloud version? (I’m using the desktop version.)

As for the desktop edition, you can click on the top menu bar to see the shortcuts available.

As far Manager time saving features:

Import bank statements

Bank rules

Batch operations

Recurring transactions

As well as the following undocumented features:

  • History button inside transaction View screens and related Undo function
  • Transaction Journal button inside transaction View screens to speed up quick audits
  • Find and recode for Receipts/Payments tabs
  • Inline calculations inside fields
  • Copy transaction lines
  • And check the options available under Copy to button, it’s usually time saver, especially when copying a Customer/Supplier Statement to a Receipt/Payment
