Is Manager compatible with Quickbooks?
No.
But it provides you with easy access to all the tools required to migrate from QuickBooks.
You can either enter the closing balance sheet as starting balances in Manager (See this guide) or you can use Batch Create to import all transactions one by one (See this guide) but the later will require that you stage your data first.
Manager has a number of features to import data from csv files
But there is no specific interface to import from Quickbooks or any other software package.
You could import Customers, Suppliers and then enter starting balances
What exactly would you like to transfer from Quickbooks?
Thanks for your response.
The situation I have is I am trying to help a friend of mine with Quickbooks, and I’ve been having an awful time trying to acquire a validation code from them after paying to upgrade the software. I am so tired of Quickbooks, and know of some people who love Manager, so I was thinking maybe I could convince my friend to switch over to Manager, but I didn’t know what all is involved…
All you really need is to transfer the starting balances for the year, import customers and suppliers and it may be possible to import inventory.
I would highly recommend that they change, because while it will be a bit of a pain to get it setup, in the long run it will be worthwhile. Quick books is far too difficult to use, with far too many features. Manager is so easy to use that it pays off dividends in time saving and fewer accounting support calls.
I got crazy on this one. I exported all transactions in QuickBooks (years) and then used Pulover’s Macro Creator and taught it to real (filtered) transactions (checks) and create a new PAYMENT and then move on to the next transaction. Unfortunately, the Macro involves calibration of where some menu-items/buttons appear on my screen. It’s not robust, but I got to import about 1,000 (current year) checks instead of doing so manually. I’m happy to share it, but it’s not even close to foolproof (e.g., all accounts must be set up in Chart of Accounts before import). It’s unfortunate that Manager.Io desktop doesn’t have some basic functions such as importing from QuickBooks or printing checks. I’m sure that lack of such basics prevents more people from leaving QuickBooks and adopting Manager.Io ..
Interesting approach.
This task is normally done by batch operations in Manager. See Import data from Tally - #7 by Patch and How to import data from other accounting software - #6 by Patch
Pulover didn’t work as well as AutoHotKey. . The script in more editable. You have to calibrate a few positions that specifies where Manager buttons are on the screen. I’m now in the process of adapting this in import downloaded bank transactions to help me do my monthly bank reconciliation.
