Import Problem

Screenshots would help

So do everything on your iMac. Install v20.9.89 there, following instructions in this Guide: https://www.manager.io/guides/7116. Launch the program and import the business file from your flash drive. Give it a recognizable name upon import so you know you are dealing with a business file never opened by a new version of Manager. Make a backup of the business. Now install the latest version of Manager, following the same Guide linked above. Your imported file should be visible on the Businesses page. Select it and verify that things all look correct. If everything looks good, remove all other versions of that business from the Businesses page following instructions in this Guide: https://www.manager.io/guides/9123. Rename the business to whatever you want it to be, following this Guide: https://www.manager.io/guides/8893. Assuming all has gone well, you can visit the application data folder and get rid of things in the Trash inside that folder. See this Guide: https://www.manager.io/guides/8394.

Now, if your newly created user is on your iMac, you can get rid of that user. Before you do, follow instructions in the Guide on managing application data folder contents to locate and delete the application data for that user.

Unfortunate I installed the newer version first so now it won’t let me run an older version. I don’t know how to uninstall so that’s why I created a new user and installed the older version. I think the problem is I no longer have a file that hasn’t been opened. It sounds like just opening it changes it. I’m afraid I just lost 6 years of bookkeeping and have to start over. After spending hours on this.

Please post screen shots of what does and does not work

If nothing else works and things have been botched by not following the guidance provided, I believe @lubos can convert your old file if it is emailed to him.

@oliver54 would you be able to send me the file you are trying to import to lubos@manager.io ?

Yes, thank you very much.

Just sent, thank you!

Thank you @lubos for sending the file. Here’s a shot of what you sent. How do I get to where I can add entries, like in a checkbook register?

This is explained here Import bank statements | Manager

On mac you can have multiple versions installed.

Thanks but I’m not wanting to import a bank statement, just the entries I’ve already made.

@oliver54, read the Guides about recording receipts and payments.

I know how to do that, I just need to access what I’ve already recorded.

In your payment and receipt tabs it shows you recorded 139 receipts and 294 payments. Click on the tab to see all these.

Ok I can see them but there’s no option to add a new entry. I want to see the accounting that shows all entries and continue adding new ones. That’s how I used it before. I never had a problem accessing that before.

I have no idea what you mean ā€œI want to see the accountingā€ or by ā€œadd a new entryā€?

In the Receipts tab click on New Receipt to add a new receipt

In the Payments tab click on New Payment

The VIEW button is how I accessed it before. What I’m looking for is once that account opens you can see both receipts and payments (income & expenses) and a current balance. Is that not possible anymore?

I can access this on my old laptop but its 10 years old and could die any minute. I would love to still be able to use this app on my iMac. I really didn’t think it would be this difficult.

In your screenshot in post 26 you had receipt and payments (rightly so) activated as the tabs show. Please go to customize and activate them. Only then can you add a new receipt or payment and see all individual receipts and payments made so far when clicking on either the payment or receipts tab. Bank does not allow that.
