Is anyone else having problems with sending emails with PDF-generated documents?
If I send an invoice that has been internally generated with the PDF generator, the customer claims they haven’t received it. I ask them to check their spam, but it’s not in there. It seems to be worse with web-based email systems such as Hotmail and Gmail.
If I create the PDF document externally, it seems to work ok. Whilst it’s a solution, it’s more work to do to achieve that
Have you tried sending an email to yourself via Manager?
The last time I tried I found some pdf readers did not like displaying the pdf but other worked fine.
The problem is not reading the PDF, it’s receiving the email in the first place. As I say, they don’t get the email
I copy email to myself and get them all
Well then most likely the issue is either with the smtp server you use, so try another one, or with the recipients’ email systems, security, firewalls, filtering, etc. There frankly is little Manager can do about their system setups.
Try also to use the HTTP protocol rather than your SMTP settings, see:
My take on this is the program generated PDF invoice may or may not get to recipient while sometimes they are just unreadable as the recipients server does not like them. The PDF Generator in Obsolete Features works fine every time. I have tried sending from my home desktop and Clubs laptop both using different servers and it makes no difference…they may of may not get there and may or may not be readable. One thing I also noted was that if the clubs logo was bigger than 60kb also caused havoc
One of the reasons but also other than English languages why the PDF generator is in Obsolete Features and not supported since several years. There are plenty discussions about it, but we can not expect it back.
