I have created a new custom field for Payments
When creating a new payment the text does not automatically appear inside the field box, but under it
Resulting in
If I copy & paste the text in the field it appears though.

The Description is just that - the description of what the custom field is for
If you want text to appear in the custom field, then you have to setup the default value on the form Set form defaults | Manager
