Crashing in OS-X 10.11 El Capitan

I have installed the latest version of OS-X 10.11 El Capitan on my MacBook and now Manager keeps crashing intermittently.

Any Ideas?

I have no problem with Manager and El Capitan on Macbook Pro and iMac 27".

Did you ever resolve your problem with El Capitan, @ckeoghan? I’m about to upgrade to El Capitan, but don’t want to if people are having problems running their accounting software.

@Tut, feel free to upgrade. How many people do have an issue with El Capitan running Manager? Only one?

I installed El Capitan. Manager runs fine. Unfortunately, it still seem subject to whatever causes the random freezes. First one only took about 3 minutes. I’ll let you know if their frequency seems different after a few days of use.

Hi Lubos,

No, Manager is still crashing-freezing intermittently after I installed El Capitan.

It can run for hours or simply stop when you try to do a quick invoice.

Do you want me to send you any more crash reports?.

Conor

i also use El Capitan, no problems, all fine

@ckeoghan, so other Mac users can watch for the same problem, would you please clarify something? In your first post on this topic, you mentioned “crashing.” Does the entire operating system crash? Or does only Manager have problems?

The problem others have reported on earlier OS X releases, which persists for me with El Capitan, affects only Manager. It is recognizable by the fact that the Back button still functions and will, eventually, take you all the way back to the launch screen. But nothing else works. This is random, and can happen within a few minutes or may not occur for days. Closing and reopening the program always restores functionality.

Thanks.

Hi Tut,

Thanks for getting back to me, no it’s only Manager that freezes/crashes intermittently.

Conor

And does the Back button still work when you experience this problem? If so, it is most likely the same issue I described.

Hi Tut,

No it just stops period, I have to force quit the application and restart it.

Conor

Mono framework which is embedded in Manager for Mac is a few years old.

Sometime before this year, I will start embedding the latest version. There is a good chance this will solve all these stability issues on Mac.

I am having a similar problem in that the system just crashes and then restarts. It happens at least once a day and is quite frustrating. Ill post the report later today when it happens.

Are you actually saying Manager restarts automatically? This is completely different from the freeze several Mac users have reported. In the latter case, the program stays open, but the only thing that works is the Back button. One can go backwards all the way to the opening screen (or possibly until some internal limit is reached, which I never have). Closing and relaunching resolves the issue with no loss of data, just lost time.

Hi Tut,

No when Manager freezes you have to force quit it and manually restart the app

My whole system crashes and then restarts.
