Batch Create or Update for new Custom Setting

Hi,
I’ve had a look at the guides and can’t seem to find a solution to this problem.
I have added a new Custom Setting to my Inventory Items (Supplier field) so that when I look at my items I know where they were purchased from. I have tried to batch create and batch update to auto infill the column from a spreadsheet but the column never appears when it is saved to the Clipboard. What am I doing wrong?
