for example, I sold off all the investments and made $100 profit from it. on the Balance Sheet Report it shows negative value of 100 for the investment asset (it seems the investment cost instead of book value), and when you click the blue figure will show actual zero balance (correct value, as investment items all sold off). see below screen shot.
can look into this issue?
You need to show the full edit screens of the transactions
it is talking about the Report of balance sheet, it reports negative value as CURRENT ASSET for INVESTEMENT even when there is no more investment items.
@Harry_Shen it’s clear that you are getting different results from what’s expected.
I tried to replicate the behavior but I couldn’t.
Now, we need to dig in deeper if we are to troubleshoot this issue. Could you provide the following:
-
The Version and Edition of Manager
-
The full breakdown of investment as in this screenshot:
we need to see the breakdown of this -100. -
The full list of transactions for the investment in question.
You can redact any sensitive information.
@Ealfardan , thank you for the response. there is no issue on summary screen of BS as it shows zero for investment. could you kindly go to the Report tab, then balance sheet to see what happens on the report. it is not tally between the summary screen BS and the report BS.
It is not possible to diagnose and solve your issue unless you provide the information that Ealfardon requested
the version is 23.3.21.732.
it is clear that summary screen balance sheet and Reports-balance sheet shows differently.
No it isn’t. You obscured the relevant data.
And your Summary page and balance sheet report are for different dates (one still in the future).
i just want to know why the sold investment item which made a capital gain, show negative value under current asset on balance sheet. the investment sold off the value shall be zero, right?
@Harry_Shen have you entered any quantities?
@Ealfardan yes
@Ealfardan so under investment tab, the qty is zero now
Manager needs the quantities in the starting balance, purchases and sales to determine the gains/losses. In case you sold quantities that you don’t have, then Manager treats it as a short sale – which results in a liability.
To test this please show the edit screens of:
- Investment Setup
- Purchase of Investment
- Sale of Investment
Make sure to show the quantities in each of the above screens.
I can reproduce the issue.
This the movement of the investment
This is how it shows in Summary
This is how it shows in Reports > Balance Sheet
Apparently, the capital gains are classified under Assets > Investments in the Balance Sheet report.
I’m placing this in bugs.
@Ealfardan thanks!
@lubos @Ealfardan looking forward the bug be fixed
Fixed in the latest version (23.4.1)
