i am testing this from a desktop version at home, my re-installed version is 17.7.13.
i did a backup and imported the same, the size did not reduce still.
I saw no reduction either, in a roughly 6MB test company that has had many attachments added and deleted. File size remained the same right to the single KB.
I do notice, however, that the file size shown on the Businesses page for every business is smaller than shown in my operating system’s file management system.
Fine, the vacuum command works on server. just taking a backup purged the file size from 10MB to 1020 KB. hope daily backup with this inbuilt Vacuum command clears all unwanted operational space. very good.
I have maybe the opposite problem with it vacuuming or doing something too much. On a 2mb file. When I click on “bulk update”. It takes several seconds. It takes a while to go through several screens of bulk updates.
Why is this a problem? No matter how fast a modern computer might be, it still takes time to process instructions. And if you are using the server or cloud edition (as this topic title suggests), upload and download speeds can vary.
When there are hundreds of transactions that need to be updated, you have to go through lots of pages.
I am importing transactions from a service called ratesetter. When you put money into it, you can set it up for reinvestment, then it’ll reinvest the interest earned every few days. Eventually, there’re hundreds of transactions every month.
I think manager.io is wearing down my disk drive. The disk usage goes up a lot whenever I’m using the bulk update feature. It wasn’t like this in previous versions of manager.io before last year.
@niknah, what version are you using? Can you check?
I just downloaded the latest today to try it out again. v17.7.34
It takes maybe 1 sec to do a full page of “bulk updates” on a file that’s about 200k. But maybe 5 secs on a file that’s 2mb.
Thanks for taking a look.
How many lines do you update using bulk update?
I’m updating a page at a time. Everything has a bank rule set to it.
