i would like to generate report with only the invoice numbers with basic value and consolidated tax values of different taxes. which serves me simple taxation instead of item-wise taxation display.

Why Tax Summary report doesn’t work for you? It shows total amount excl. tax, tax amount and total. Figures are clickable so you can drill-down to transaction level.
The requirement is to see the total amount per invoice, but drill down to the details can be hidden so that the figures per invoice is clear. that would help me in having clear picture of the invoice and amount details.
