Tax p9 form in payroll

Hello,
I am in kenya, I have been wondering if it is possible to develop the payroll system to enable one to draw a summary of taxation for individual employees.

The content of this (P9 ) for is usually a total of total basic pay for the year tabulated monthly and personal income taxes deducted monthly, with the taxable pay being the difference between NSSf deducted monthly and basic pay paid monthly.

Most accounting software’s that have payroll have this function. I would be good if Manager had this too.

Have you looked at the payroll reports in the Reports tab?

Yes I have it has A summary for all items for all employees so you can pick a single employee and particular payroll itmes it

You can also set up a Payslip Totals per Item and Employee report for multiple months. If necessary, you can copy this report, paste it into a spreadsheet and manipulate it further. But it gives you the information you said you needed. It is not in a customized format for Kenya.

Is there a way that this can be customized?

For those using this in Kenya have they been drawing their p9 manually or what do they use?

Manager has only a few report transformations that customize information for specific countries. See Add localized settings and features | Manager. For most of the nearly 200 jurisdictions where the program is used, information must be extracted from standard reports and entered into national forms outside the program.

Have you tried to write a country specific report yourself? It is intended these will be written by forum users such as yourself.

To help more, more information is needed. In particular exactly how is this tax implemented in practice

  • For such payroll systems, must the employee routinely inform their employer of their annual tax deductions or net taxable income.

  • How are you doing this at the moment without a country specific report. In particular what values from what Manager reports are you using, and how have you set up Manager to get these values.

  • How is the information submitted to your tax authority? Electronic data interchange, or an online portal you type the values in?

By the way, generation country specific localisations is complex for the following reasons however a single individual does not actually have to be well versed in all aspects. It is possible to work on solutions as a community. Step 1 will need to be driven by you and your peers in Kenya. Step 2 is much less complex than it was in the past as a report generation environment is now used rather than just allowing liquid programming. Step 3 requires NG Software input if a significant limitation is found.

  1. A detailed understanding of a particular countries accounting conventions and reporting requirements, not just for a single business but for all businesses Manager’s localisation is going to support (ie the general case).

  2. Sufficient programming ability to code the accounting requirements into Mangers localisation interface. Again the requirement is for all data users may enter (ie the general case) not just the subset a particular business needs.

  3. In additions Manager’s localisation interface must also have the breath of program functionality to allow implementation of particular countries reporting and data entry requirements.

I am a Kenyan too,
I trust the customization of Manager is well versed for anyone to use the Payroll and customize it to the way you wish to be
However, Payroll for Kenyans is very complicated that no accounting system can calculate the payroll automatically, but I believe the inbuilt payroll is great for use
