Start date

You just confirmed my fear, that is that you do not keep client records outside of Manager. I would strongly advise you to do so. Best wishes.

What exactly do you mean by that? And why is it so scary?

I am not using the term scary did I? I said that you confirmed my fear that you do not keep client records outside of Manager.

So it’s not real fear, I guess :slightly_smiling_face:

I wonder if the start date mentioned by @Ealfardan and @Hennie could go in ā€œBusiness Details.ā€ I’m talking about Settings >> Business Details.

And then, if you want a special field for it, you could go to Settings >> Custom Fields and add whatever fields you wish for Start Date, Tax ID Number, or whatever.

What I wish is that @lubos might add this same facility for Divisions. One division might have different details from another division. And the details like address would appear on division invoices and reports.

Maybe you can put the start date in the title of a custom field in settings / Business details as users shouldn’t have access to custom fields in settings.

I started using the manager version 18 on may 6 2022. I brought my accounting records from manual system to manager and added all the inventory items with their qty as starting balance. I was not able to add the suppliers’ outstanding balance and therefore i added their invoices which resulted in their balance being updated perfectly. The item quantity mentioned in those invoices didn’t interfere with the qty on hand because the invoice date was before the manager start date. It was all going good but today i made the mistake of updating the manger to version 22. Now my inventory item qty on hand has all messed up because of not availability of start date in this version. Kindly someone please help me how to solve this prblem

Any version 18.X.Y was several thousand updates behind when you started using it. You should have downloaded the program from the official web site. Depending on where you got the program, it might not even be a legitimate version.

There never has been a version 22. Manager’s version numbers have 4 parts. The current downloadable version is 22.6.20.110.

If both versions of Manager were legitimate, the update would not have interfered with inventory quantities. But that assumes you actually had created pre-start date invoices correctly. See this Guide: https://www.manager.io/guides/7227.

I suspect that you have wrong dates on your pre-start date purchase invoices.

Given that you have been using Manager for less than 2 months, you might consider simply starting over with an authentic download and properly entering starting balance information.
