… when creating a customer with custom currency
… then adding an invoice > all good it sets it to the customers currency
… then adding a receipt either from within the invoice or from within the add receipt > it asks for both base currency and customer currency, but on the final receipt the base currency is shown
So does manager io expect a customer to get billed in Euro and receive a receipt in USD?!
So that makes not a lot of sense, when it cannot be done the same way on receipt.
Hmm, perhaps nobody has asked before?
That is not an issue that stops someone adding feature parity?
It might be a reason why it is not there, but surely not the issue in adding this?
I find it quite standard and have seen numerous receipts doing that. For example my entire bank statements are like that. They show what you spent and what they received
But one receipt can be for multiple invoices from multiple customers of multiple currencies.
It’s not as simple as showing “Total amount in USD” like on sales invoice. Because sales invoice is always to single customer of single currency.
Receipt is different transaction with completely different set of possibilities than sales invoice. So this needs to be implemented differently too.
Until this is improved, you can always enter manually into description how much you’ve received from customer in foreign currency. Or you can just send them customer statement. Or re-send them the original invoice that has been marked as paid showing how the foreign currency receipt was allocated against it.
Never seen a company sending an invoice for multiple customers for multiple currencies for multiple invoices
Perhaps we have a linguistic barrier at display here, because for me, a receipt is a confirmation that someone has received something, and that something is usually bound to the someone who sent it. But I can be wrong, of course.
Or you can just send them customer statement
What is this exactly? I cannot find this particular option. (Yes, I was thinking of just send back the invoice with the “PAID” stamp)
It is still a problem because given the currency difference, it starts doing currency gains and losses, which is not something I want, so seeing two currencies on the receipt I have to create anyway would help massively, otherwise I have to recalculate the amounts, you see?
The receipt asks for hours x fee and that results in USD which is… wrong, compared to the same hours x fee in EUR
You better consult a tax accountant. When dealing with multiple currencies most jurisdictions in the world will only accept a single base currency and therefore FOREX Gains/Losses must be part of P&L. So if US then $ if France then EUR.
In accounting software, receipt represents money received. Yes - on the bank statement, receipt will have always single payer. But in accounting software, receipt could have multiple payers because you can always split the receipt and allocate each part to different payer. And if you are utilizing multi-currency, each account/payer could be in different currency.
This is how you can end up with single receipt that could involve many currencies.
Customer statements are under Reports tab.
Look, I have no problem with disclosing more information on the receipt. By the way, if you view the receipt, there is Journal button which you can click. That will give you alternative view of receipt which will show different currencies.
