Sorry to ask again but I’m still having problems with emails. I have been using HHTP but outlook won’t accept emails from io.manager and clients are not receiving invoices.
I then created an ap password to use SMTP but it says Authentication unsuccessful, basic authentication is disabled.
I also tried logging through a different server and doing what was suggested by Eko but that didn’t work either.
I’m lost as to what to do. Please help.
Next time please include a title for topics.
I have change your Title.
We can no longer use smtp for outlook, their outlook changed the authentication method to new technology. and has not been adopted in the manager.
for this problem, the manager presents the email feature via http. this works although it cannot completely replace the old feature.
I think the developer has read user complaints, hopefully there will be improvements in this feature in the future.
Hi again, still having problems with this. I was using Hhtp but found any email I sent to outlook or hotmail never arrived but said sent. So then changed back to smtp and made new ap password but that didn’t work. I tried doing everything you said reg another server etc and it still won’t send. Any suggestions?
Personal Outlook account (free Hotmail and Outlook) requires:
Authentication Method OAuth2/Modern Auth <—Manager doesn’t support this.
I resorted to creating a free Gmail account and setting 2FA and app password which still allow basic authentication. This way you’ll have a copy in the sent box of your Gmail as well.
You’ll have to tell clients to check the junk mail and make your Gmail as not junk.
Thanks for she advice but I would rather not change my email if I don’t have to. I’m hoping for a solution.
Yes but unfortunately any email I send to a hotmail or outlook account that way is being blocked so that is not working for me either.
Show to us, your email setting image. maybe something wrong there
@Janine despite all options given nothing seems to work for you and is essentially an isolated case because most manage to get it to work. At this stage as nothing seems to work for you the only option left is to use “print-to-file” and save as PDF and use your usual email application to send and receive emails.
I have the same issues using outlook.com.
Could you please add modern authentication to your application so we still can use outlook.com
thanks
@Eme you can use outlook if you create an app password as explained in various links and use that rather than your usual password. @Janine did manage that but for whatever reason has not followed up further as I reported and observed one issue and that is that for whatever reason Manager persists now with the old password and really requires me to use another browser not used before, delete the current smtp entry completely and then create a new one with the in Microsoft generated app password for authentication.
Yes it’s so weird
I will try changing to a gmail account and see if their ap password will work.
Thanks for replying.
It doesn’t work. I have completely reset the SMTP settings. Then recreated everything from scratch using the outlook.com app password that I have generated. See screenshot.
When I reset and recreate the SMTP settings you still see those ******** in the password field.
Yes outlook doesn’t work for me but Im going to try to change my email to a gmail account instead.
@eko Please check my post 2hours ago with screenshot. Not sure if you have seen it.
It does not work with outlook.com and app password.
@Eme how did you create the app password?
The most modern type was recently added and that means selecting HTTP rather than SMTP in settings.
Also Manager works perfectly well with 2FA by replacing your normal outlook account password with the one generated by Microsoft to be used with online app such as Manager. You claim to have followed my instructions but did you use a browser never used before by Manager?
I am a user like you and not bound by any schedule nor need to comment. I volunteer to help but you can not expect me to “jump”.
@eko
I followed this article to create the app password. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/how-to-get-and-use-app-passwords-5896ed9b-4263-e681-128a-a6f2979a7944
When I use that password Manager.io is still erroring about basic authentication.
