Problems with HTTP and Outlook

Yes I cleared browser cache and also downloaded a new browser and tried everything outlined. Still not working for me using outlook.com

Your help is appreciated. Totally understand. Sorry if I gave you a rush impression that was and is not my intention.

Outlook just won’t work for me either so I gave up and I’m trying a gmail account instead. Hopefully it will be ok

Please show screenshots, especially related to what you do to get the app password.

As for the new browser you must delete the smtp entry before doing anything and create a complete new one. It should not should any of the asterixes in the password field and only when you type the new app password save it.

@eko I have tried everything possible but it doesn’t work. I have found this article from Microsoft “Outlook and other apps are unable to connect to Outlook.com when using Basic authentication”

Basic authentication must be depreciated.

If you use another email application:
Always check the add account steps to look for Outlook.com and use it if that option is available. If Outlook.com is not an option, you will want to contact the application’s support to confirm that they support OAuth against EAS, POP, IMAP, and SMTP. If they do not, you will be able to continue using Basic Auth until we announce our final deprecation dates. However, you may experience increased login prompts as we work to protect accounts.

Outlook and other apps are unable to connect to Outlook.com when using Basic authentication - Microsoft Support

All is correct basic authentication which means using your email username and password will not work, hence the need to create an app password and use that instead of your usual email password.

See how to create an app password at:

By the way did you as needed (see link previous post) 2-Factor authentication? The app password will only work with that.

As I also mentioned earlier make sure it is really the app password that is setup in Manager as I faced losts of cache issue I reported in another topic to @Lubos as previously these SMTP passwords could easily be replaced.
