I have imported my bank statements and have created a few bank rules, however, nothing is being allocated according to those rules. Is there something I need to do after creating the rules to make them apply to previously imported transactions?
Bank rules can only be applied to transactions listed as “uncategorised” on the Bank Accounts tab. Also you need to select (tick box) those transactions with a match and then click Bulk Update
Bank rules do not apply to previous transactions. They are a feature of the importing process.
so it has to be done at exactly the same time as the import?
I imported all my transactions yesterday, with the intention of creating rules to sort everything today. From what you are saying, that’s not possible?
If you imported your transactions yesterday and they are still currently sitting as “uncategorised” under the Bank Account tab:
Then click the New Bank Rule button next to the uncategorised transaction
Create the required rule noting that there must be an exactly matching key word in the transaction and in the rule for it to work.
Once the rule has been created it will be applied to all similar transactions and also be automatically applied when you do the next imported statement.
