One of the most critical functions of an accounting system would be to allow new users to import their current accounts in bulk. Yet, browsing the forum and the Guides has become a frustrating exercise with several-years old posts going round in circles (beating the bush?) and many broken links that have NOT been cleaned out yet.
Why would the admins NOT want to invest a little bit of time and effort to simplify the whole process, with detailed walkthroughs and video tutorials to boot, to make the whole transition process a breeze?
As a new user, it would be better for you to enter data manually, one by one.
This approach will help you understand how Manager works and how to work with it effectively.
Manager does provide a bulk data entry option through Batch Create, but you need to understand how the system works first to use it correctly.
You’ve made some valid points regarding the east of migration.
Do note that Manager doesn’t use the concept of Starting Balance uniformly. Some items, like Sales Invoice and Purchase Invoice, require the individual invoice be created. Others, like bank account and liability account only need an amount.
The Batch Create function uses the rather un-intuitive (and annoying) column format for importing.
These are all explained in https://www2.manager.io/guides/15718
