Manager 17.12.14 not opening in puppy linux 7.5 64bit?

I have been running manager 16.12.1 on mint 14.04 32bit and working great, but decided to upgrade to take advantage of all the new additions to manager(Report improvements, etc.)
I downloaded puppy linux 7.5,which runs on ubuntu 16.04 64bit and installed this on a 16G flash drive. The system works fine and other programs downloaded work “out of the box” but manager will not open.
After installing the .deb file, puppy puts it in the utility’s menu, the manager icon is there but will not open.
Any help or advice would really be appreciated.

So - - - - did you install mono??? and if so, where from ???

@xero, Thanks for your reply. No I haven’t installed mono. When I installed Manager it said that all dependencies had been met, so I assumed that all was well with the installation.
I seem to recall something about mono when I first installed Manager about 2 or 3 years ago but cannot remember any details.
There are a number of mono files in the repository and I haven’t a clue as to which one or one’s to install.

@xero. An update on my earlier reply to you. I did a bit of searching on the forum regarding mono and installed the mono-runtime files and dependencies. Version 4.2.1 but still no joy.
Any further help or advice would be great.

OK, I’ve installed “mono-complete” from the ubuntu repository’s and Manager still does not open.
There also is no file for manager in /usr/bin/. I don’t know if manger stores this file in here or perhaps elsewhere on 16.04?
I’m just a tad lost for ideas right now and would appreciate any help.

I use 16.04 as my ‘daily driver’ just at the moment as it happens - Manager works just fine on it, and I am using Mono from the Ubuntu repo’s. That said, I do make a point to keep things patched and updated. I am away traveling at the moment, but off the top of my head would suspect/guess that
/usr/share/manager for manager
and /usr/bin/mono for mono
Question - is using and relying on a delicate short-life USB device with persistence really the best way of managing your production data ???

I’ve installed 16.04 on my netbook to replace 14.0432bit and Manager 17.12.14 is now working just fine after installing mono-complete from the repos.
I’m not going to mark this as solved, as I still haven’t been able to get Manager working on the USB device with puppy linux and I’ll keep trying although it’s no longer urgent but rather a challenge now.

With regard to your question on the USB device and production data. No it’s not, in my view anyway, clever to rely on it for constant use and storage - somethings going to break, sooner rather than later.
I was intrigued by the concept though of being able to carry around with me, in my small change pocket a complete OS and being able to plug in to any computer and carry on working where I’d left off elsewhere.
Take care over the holiday season and if you are on holiday, have a good one!

I know what you mean about the USB device thing - - can be really good fun, and when done right and used right, very secure too.
Good luck with your ‘Puppy Challenge’, and happy holidays
