Even if you lock the period and open another period in summary, you can still update previous records descriptions, is there a way to lock everything before the locked date ?
No, this has been explained on the forum before, search for it. Only the amounts and the records themselves are locked, descriptions can be changed.
So there is no option to lock description as well. okay.
The smart lock function only exists to lock your financial and tax data, and therefore, you can always change any piece of data that isn’t financial.
This is useful when, for example, you want to set the clear date for a bank record or update notes and custom fields for followup
Yes it is useful but not convenient when you have multiple users, you would not want anyone to adjust description or details of a transaction when it has been locked.
It would have been ideal if there was a two option of date lock (All Data Lock) & (Financial Lock)
There’s two other proposals, one is an ideas which can solve this issue – not in obvious ways
The other one is enabling restricting access for users to their own records – which has been suggested by the developer but since it isn’t in ideas, the post escapes me at the moment.
Given these two are implemented, you can disable some users from editing some fields as well as disabling users from editing other users work.
Does that sound like a solution? @Aryan_Mohammed
You can restrict users from editing some field correct but i want them to update unlocked dates and restrict them from updating on locked dates. e.g i want the user to able to edit 2024 records but i locked the 2023 and don’t want anyone to edit anything, financial or non-financial.
Also i couldn’t use extension to lock automatic reference, the extension doesn’t load from my cloud version (Country field is empty), is this feature no longer available ?
