Linking To Domain Doesn't Work

Iam setting up server edition and I’m trying to link it up with my TLD (top level domain) but I’m not successful as I think it can only listen to port 8080 and that’s not the default server port.

Any help/ideas will be appreciated

server edition is only recommended for users who have the necessary IT expertise to install, maintain and troubleshoot issues themselves. else, cloud edition is recommended.
all necessary guidance is already provided to get a user started with Manager Server. Self-host a Manager installation | Manager

Hi @sharpdrivetek, I am very conversant with Ubuntu, and have carried out a number of projects. It’s the reason I’m unable to understand why this isn’t working.

Here is what I had done:-

  1. I have created a DigitalOcean droplet
  2. I have set up a server at http://xxx.xxx.xx
  3. I have bought a domain name and have pointed it to the above IP.
  4. The domain ping/traceroute points to the IP but the response on browser in none.

Useful to know:
The IP is accessible via port 8080 (as the instruction manual guides), but other than that the dmail is not linking.

The trouble with server edition is no other user knows your hardware setup, your domain setup or your various other configurations. So it is not possible to troubleshoot remotely based on assumptions.

The only suggestion I can make is to check if the ports are forwarded properly and make sure firewall settings in your OS and any antivirus program are correct.

Also, it would help to try accessing with different browsers. There might also be browser settings which allow only https connections.

It is working now so you’d better remove the ip address as this is a public forum.

How do you mean it’s working now?

I can access the URL.

Does the url lead you to the system? Sorry if that seems obvious it’s not doing that on my end that’s why.

Oh okay. I can access that too, I was just trying to make it work with a domain name and the issue is that if you type it without the port 8080 it doesn’t show. Hence my asking how I can do that.

My ideal scenario is where the user can type abc.com (which is linked with an A record) and be able to access that screen.
