Invoice format

Yes, that’s what I’ve done in fact… less complimentary discount as the description and then a negative figure in the unit column. It’s the only way I could think of to add some space, as I had one sales invoice with literally two words on each line, much as ‘Bridge’ had above. Thanks

There is a Guide that describes adding a discount as a separate line: Enter a discount as a separate line item | Manager. It’s graphics have not been updated for the new layouts, since those are not yet settled. It also does not resolve issues with extra columns.

But everyone should make sure their software is up to date. The program is changing layouts daily, and sometimes more frequently, specifically to address these layout issues. Your problem may have been resolved already.

Thanks, I’ll check out that link. We’re on the cloud version, so everything should be up to date.

The program has been changing so fast you may need to force a server restart. Go to https://cloud.manager.io.

Will do that, thanks

My problem is less with printed invoices, etc. than it is with having all the columns onscreen. I have vision issues so I have to run my system at a lower screen resolution to make sure I can read everything. As it stands now, I have to constantly scroll right and left when entering and checking data (on everything in the program). the less of this I would have to do - leaving out columns that, in our business, we never use - could potentially cut down on that. I’m sure that Accessibility issues is one of the reasons the program runs in a browser - that way the program doesn’t have to worry about compatibility or accessibility requirements but if the program can help but not necessarily displaying so much on screen at once (at the end user’s choice) it would be a help.

This should be helped by the recent addition of the auto-fill approach, allowing you to eliminate information from screens that is not used. Likewise, the optional selection of columns on some forms also supports this need.

Hi, we are having a similar problem but am unsure if it is the same problem? We have spent years entering the Items as our own internal description and these are now appearing on the invoice - where they weren’t ever intended for. We would like the columns to be optional so we can get around this as our invoices become larger and invoices show unintended information. It now doesn’t show the Code (part number) separately which is what we wanted.

Fantastic. Thanks Mark. I can’t seem to apply that to all of my previous invoices without manually reapplying the check but at least I can change the default for new ones. Thanks again

@miniLG, don’t get too attached to the legacy layout. That is a temporary feature while format changes are finalized. It will soon be removed.

@miniLG if you want to show Item Code on invoices only. Then you need to edit your item and check Hide item name on printed documents

Thanks, so will there be a permanent solution to my problem? I just can’t see why it would be changed on me after all these years of having a set format that I rely on now.

OK, but I’ve got 2800+ items. Can that be done in bulk?

Sure, you can run batch update.

This would be less of an issue if you had used the item name as a name instead of an elaborate storehouse of information.

Sure it would - in hindsight… Only now that a change has been made to the format has it become an issue - I can’t predict what changes will be made years in advance and it was a convenient system for us. As the item name was hidden from view from customers we could use it to identify items in searches and use the Description for a simplified description for customers.

I sympathize with your frustration. You are not the only one suffering because you used the various fields creatively for purposes not envisioned. The good news is that once the format changes settle down, adapting to the new scheme really will be fairly simple with Batch Update—a matter of switching some columns in a spreadsheet in most situations.

Hi There , which custom text do i use if i want to add information in

If you are referring to custom fields, you must create your own. Read the Guides about this. (There is no such thing as “custom text” in Manager.)
