Whether or not you can prevent employees from seeing this information depends on what permissions you grant them and how you use the program:

  • If employees can see purchase invoices, they will be able to see the prices paid for items you have purchased.
  • If you want to prevent them from seeing the standard purchase price, leave it blank when defining inventory items. The only purpose of that field is to automatically fill unit prices when purchasing an item. But those prices can be entered manually. In fact, the exact price that a supplier will charge is often not known in advance, so many businesses do not use this field.
  • If you do not want employees to see purchase prices in the Inventory Items tab, do not give them access.
