Find out UUID

Dear @lubos,

I find always difficult to find out UUID of different tables to do batch create/update with related columns. Wouldn’t be useful to show UUID somewhere (maybe grayed out) in the interface?

For same tables, for which batch update is enabled is quite simple by exporting them in Excel but for the others is quite a mess (JSON to be interpreted and so on…)

I’d say don’t worry about this for now because I’m getting close to eliminating UUIDs from batch create/update operations. You will be able to use names of objects instead.

Waiting with bated breath! Excellent - it will materially improve the usability of the batch tools.

Sir, any update on the topic?

When will UUIDs (or “key”) be eliminated?

As you may have noticed UUID have been exposed in Manager interface so, given also that this topic didn’t became an Idea, I don’t think they will be eliminated.

But… see post by @lubos above. ie lubos

I assume it will be done when it’s done

The biggest challenge I assume is making the names used by all users unique.

This idea frightens me, I have a lot of accounts with the same name for a good reason. I really hope that this new feature will not throw off my entire efforts coming up with those setups.

I sincerely don’t know how it can be possible to remove UUID. I wouldn’t be frightened so much…
