File name issue with Manager Emailer when using German Umlauts

Manager Desktop Version 24.1.11.1279 WIN10

When sending attachments with German Umlauts in the file name, the recived file names change for expample to " file.pdf " for pdf files or to " xxx.plain " text files.

when using the internal pdf generator and the title is for example " Auftragsbestätigung " the file name is also changed to " file.pdf ".

the most weird thing in this case is: if one uses a subject that has no umlauts, the emailer will use whatever is in the subject as file name unless there is no umlaut

Is there a fix or is it maybe a bug?

The PDF generator is since long marked as an obsolete feature. This means that it is no further supported by the Developer. If it works for someone, like myself, then fine, if not then there is nothing that will be done. You are advised to name your files without special characters such as umlaut. The PDF generator was made obsolete because it could not handle many things and just swamped the forum when used in non English contexts.

hi eko,
i am aware of the restrictions with the internal PDF creator,
that was for additional information only

what I am saying is, that file names that use characters other
than standard latin characters are being converted into the
for example mentioned file name " file.pdf " when using manager
internal emailer for sending attachments with file names in
other languages, whereas other email software does for quite
a lot of other languages

using internal emailer

using external email software

Manager is not email software, That it allows you to send email using SMTP does not mean it has all the functionality of your standard email apps.

Hi EKO, thank you. Got it.
