Since the only reports that provide balances, rather than a list of transactions, are the Balance Sheet and Trial Balance, would it be possible to include a “Groups to expand” box, similar to the “Groups to collapse” box, on the Balance Sheet.
This would allow for a report showing balances of Special Accounts within a Control Account. There is no means of doing this at present other than drilling down on a Control Account, “Copy to clipboard”, and then pasting into a spreadsheet.
While I understand that the purpose of Control Accounts is to consolidate Special Accounts, Investments, and Bank Accounts so as not to clutter the Balance Sheet, there needs to be some report that shows the end of year balances within Control Accounts. Ideally, this would be a seperate report for the nominated Control Account(s), but an option to expand specified Control Accounts on the Balance Sheet would satisfy this need simply, both for the user and for @Lubos.
