Have you created an App Password within your Google Account. We had to do this to be able to smtp via Gmail …
App passwords help you sign in to your Google Account on older apps and services that don’t support modern security standards.
App passwords are less secure than using up-to-date apps and services that use modern security standards. Before you create an app password, you should check to see if your app needs this in order to sign in.

Thanks - however I am not sure how I sign in with google on the Manager App
You do not. This is about STMP not about logging into Manager.
Log in to you Google Account via a browser, search for App Password and create one for Manager.
The created password is the password you use when setting up SMTP settings within Manager
