Email authentication

Creating an app password for third-party applications in Microsoft Outlook involves enabling two-step verification and then generating an app password. In the Manager SMTP settings you use that password rather than your usual one. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Enable Two-Step Verification

  1. Sign in to your Microsoft account:
  1. Enable two-step verification:
  • In the “Security” section, find the “Two-step verification” option.
  • Click on “Set up two-step verification” and follow the on-screen instructions to enable it.

Step 2: Generate an App Password

  1. Go to the Security page:
  1. Sign in again if prompted.

  2. Find the “App passwords” section:

  • Click on “More security options” under the “Security basics” section.
  • Scroll down to the “App passwords” section.
  1. Create a new app password:
  • Click on “Create a new app password”.
  • Microsoft will generate a new app password for you.
  1. Use the app password:
  • Copy the generated app password.
  • Use this password instead of your Microsoft account password when setting up Manager.

Step 3: Configure Manager SMTP server settings.

  1. Open Manager SMTP Server settings.
  2. Enter hostname: smtp-mail.outlook.com
  3. Enter port: 587
  4. Enter username: Your email username
  5. Enter password: Use the secure app password that you generated instead of your normal password.
