Authentication unsuccessful, SmtpClientAuthentication is disabled for the Tenant

I’m getting this error and i have already created an app password and already enabled authenticated SMTP in admin.microsoft.com

Unsure of what to do next. How do i enable SMTP for manager.io with outlook?

Please provide screenshots and more information about your settings. Please:

  1. Ensure that two-step verification is enabled for your Outlook account. This step is necessary to generate an app-specific password. You can enable it by visiting the Microsoft Security Page and following the instructions to turn on two-step verification.
  2. After enabling two-step verification, generate an app-specific password. This password differs from your regular account password and is used exclusively for apps such as Manager. You can generate it from the same Microsoft Security Page under the “App passwords” section.
  3. Make sure you are using the correct SMTP server settings:
  • SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com
  • Port: 587
  • Encryption: STARTTLS
  • Username: Your full Outlook email address (e.g., yourname@outlook.com)
  • Password: The app-specific password you generated.

Hi, thank you for replying, i have enabled MFA, and SMTP, also made an app password.

Now i get this

535: 5.7.139 Authentication unsuccessful, user is locked by your organization’s security defaults policy. Contact your administrator. [SG2PR04CA0203.apcprd04.prod.outlook.com 2024-12-04T05:28:39.491Z 08DD12E75FE20CB7]

Ensure that in Microsoft Admin that security defaults are disabled.

Is this safe? Will MFA be disabled?

This is safe and FMA will not be disabled. It is actually the solution that Microsoft itself posted and many question why they add (not recommended) because they actually do as otherwise it may not work.
