Documentation on Making Tax Digital using Manager

Thanks!

Working through the thread you directed me to highlighted my mistake. I had not re-assigned the tax code to the correct account following import of the localization. Much appreciated.

Clarifying what happened for you and it’s solution is useful.

I suspect there is an update limitation there as I don’t think you are supposed to need to do that when upgrading. Either way it should make it easier for others with similar issues, either by them following the referenced thread or Lubos reproducing it (with someones backup) and improving upgrade functionality.

I’d really appreciate some guidance here:

I’m trying to create my Q1 VAT return and would like to use the new VAT calculation worksheet. Every time I try and generate a new report under Reports → VAT Calculation worksheet, it only creates a Tax Summary Report.

I can see my 2019 Q4 report which is in the correct format but for some reason, generating a new report only brings up the standard tax summary. I’ve updated to the latest version & reimported the localization to no avail. Any support much appreciated.

Have you verified that all your tax codes are assigned to appropriate tax liability accounts and not Suspense? Some users have had trouble with that issue. I do not know for certain whether that could cause the problem you see, but it might.

Tut,

Thanks. The issue turned out to be simpler than that. When you create a VAT calculation worksheet, Manager generates a Tax Summary report in the first instance. It is not until you come back out and reopen the relevant report that you see the VAT calculation worksheet.

I’m not sure why this is the case. It’s certainly not very intuitive but I’m happy to have solved my issue.

Actually, @sludgesurfer, that behavior makes some sense when you understand that the VAT calculation worksheet is just a special, localized transformation of the Tax Summary report. But I am not aware of any other user reporting the need for the double opening. I am going to look into this a little more.
