Data is neither text nor number

In the latest version 2.18.61, to see the SUM of total quantity and other data we paste the data in Libreoffice Calc. When We copy the data to spreadsheet, sum function is unable to perform the function. The data in All the TABS is nether NUMBER NOR TEXT. We have tried to convert it no number and its not happening.

Even Formatting is not working…

More info is needed:

  1. How did you copy the data? Did you select it manually or used Copy to clipboard button?

  2. Did you make any manual changes after pasting in spreadsheet, like replacing the currency symbol?

How are you getting the data to paste?

  • Copy to clipboard button in Manager or
  • Selecting then copying a Manager page or
  • Using a table copy extension in your web browser used to view Manager

How are you pasting into LibreOffice calc

  • Paste special text or
  • Paste html

To copy data from invoice we use copy and paste in calc or any other spreadsheet application.

We have also tried special paste function, convert text to column, format text to number… But no help

I think there is some bug, prior to this version, copy paste was working fine to sum total the qty sold to customer to cross check with physical qty

We used the second option ie selecting and copying. For pasting we tried both the methods…

If you are copying data from a Sales Invoice (which is what it looks like), then Tut’s answer here is of relevance
Copy To Excel not working in Sales Invoice View Section - Manager Forum

Now Whats The Solution ?

There isn’t one

With Every New Update, A New BUG is Arriving… Should We Stop Updating Manager

if you are using the desktop or Server version, then yes you could stop applying updates.

This will stop you getting corrections for any bugs and new features.

The problem you face is not a bug - it was never a supported feature of Manager, so can not now be classed as a bug. A bug is a supported feature that no longer works

But Now We Just Got Stuck In Middle. Also there is no option for SUM total of Qty Sold In An invoice to cross check with physical.
In My Case, Sum Function is Working On Serial No. ( see attachment) but not any other field

Due to this Function Error We can even analyses the date within an invoice

Manually selecting and copying directly from the webpage has nothing to do with how manager is coded. It’s how websites work in general.

What probably happened is that you might have selected additional invisible characters along with your numbers. To test this you can use this spreadsheet function to test the length of cell values. For example: =Len(d22) should yield 3 for number or greater than 6 if you have copied some text with it.

Anyway, I think your best solution is to make a custom report so you can copy and paste invoice lines using Copy to clipboard and avoid copying mistakes.

Can you please guide me how to copy from invoice to excel

You cannot.

You are complaining here about a feature in a different program.

Why are you doing this instead of using the various reporting and drill-down features in Manager?

The answer is simple

To Sum Up the qty sold in an invoice to cross check with physical qty as sum total of qty feature is missing.

It is not possible to have the sum of the quantities on a sales invoice because the quantities may all be in different units eg how you you sum this invoice

Sugar 10 Kgs €3/kg € 30
Milk 25 L €1/L € 25
Total € 55

Adding together 10 Kgs and 25 L would be a complete nonsense

=len(XX) is yielding 3 and its a number as per info provided by you, but still no function is applicable

Then maybe this should help
