Custom SMTP sent to 3rd party

When configuring the Desktop edition to use a custom SMTP server, it seems to have sent the email from a 3rd party (in Australia) instead of directly from my desktop. This raised red flags with gmail for example, and sent me a notice saying there was a suspicious sign-in and rejected it.

This also raises security concerns for me, as my password must have been sent over the internet for this to happen.

Is there any way to prevent this, or any future plans to make it possible for the desktop edition to send the email directly?

Spooky.
Potential security issue.

Google allows you to set up app specific unique passwords for increased security.

The latest version (14.3.7) will now connect to custom SMTP server directly rather than using proxy server.

Wow that was fast. It seems to have done the trick! Thanks!
